Hey there! I’m back with another cardmaking idea for Valentine’s Day! This time I went overboard and created a bunch of cards using the Gel Press printing plate together with The Crafter’s Workshop Heavy Body Paints and Black Modeling Paste and a super cool stencil that made this design pop! I also have a quick video showing you how I created these backgrounds.
While preparing this project idea I rediscovered my love for monoprinting and also discovered a new obsession: Black Modeling Paste… These modeling pastes are so thick and easy to apply and they add so much dimension, texture and color to your projects!
Main Supplies: TCW737 Love Sonnet (used for monoprinting and stenciling) / TCW752 Graffiti Kisses (used for monoprinting) / TCW9009 Black Modeling Paste 8 oz. / TCW9020 Raspberry Sorbet Heavy Body Paint 4 0z. / TCW9019 Candy Apple Red Heavy Body Paint 4 0z. / TCW9016 Spun Sugar Heavy Body Paint 4 0z. / Gel Press 6″x 6″ Reusable Gel Printing Plate / XOXO Word SVG / Electronic Die Cutting Machine / Heart die Cut / Die Cutting Machine / Therm O Web Mixed Media Adhesive / Therm O Web 3D Zots / Mini Brayer
The cards themselves are really easy to put together once you have the backgrounds ready. As you can see, for some cards I simply die cut a large heart from the stenciled backgrounds and added them to a black card base. For a couple other cards I also added an SVG word that I cut on my Cricut and attached that to the card front.
A LITTLE NOTE ABOUT THE DIE CUT WORDS USED ON THESE CARDS
THIS FUN XOXO WORD AND SHADOW DIE CUTS COME FROM A NEW SVG WORD BUNDLE I CREATED TO HELP EVERYONE IN THE PAPERCRAFTING COMMUNITY ACHIEVE THAT TRENDY WORD DIE CUT LOOK WITHOUT SPENDING SO MUCH! THIS BUNDLE IN PARTICULAR COMES WITH 82 ELEMENTS (WORDS AND SHADOWS INCLUDED) AND IS AVAILABLE NOW ON ETSY.
That’s all for today. For more ideas using stencils and mixed media make sure to visit The Crafter’s Workshop blog. Also, I would love to hear your thoughts on today’s cards, so please leave me a comment below and over at YouTube. Thanks so much for stopping by. Until next time.
