Dreaming of a White Christmas gilded & elegant christmas card

I have a confession to make… This year I’ve been drawn to make white and gold Christmas cards. I can’t even think of traditional Christmas colors when I want to make a project! So today’s poinsettia card and tutorial translate very well what Christmas is gonna be like this December at home.

White and gold look so elegant together! Since the holidays are all about sparkle too, I used one of my favorite glitter techniques and I’m sharing a quick and easy tutorial with you HERE.

I created the background myself, layering snowflake stamps in different designs, first in a very light beige, then in gold embossing. Afterwards, I dry embossed the stamped mat with a sutile polka dot design and used a brayer to apply light beige paint to the raised pattern.

As for the very layered and beautiful center of the card, I started out with an intricate die cut (see tutorial HERE) and continued building layers, with large snowflake die cuts and finally with a large handmade poinsettia (that I tried to color as natural looking as possible). I added several pearls and stamens and also crinkle ribbon around the poinsettia to give the card an even more elegant and delicate look. I mounted this very embellished mat on a gold layer (after I distressed it’s edges) and finally I mounted it on a white 5 1/2″ card base.

On this card I’m using for the first time a sweet, sweet sentiment from one of my favorite stamp sets released by Unity Stamp Co., JOLLY WISHES. Don’t miss a chance to check it out (here)!

So, let me sign off reminding you of Bing Crosby’s White Christmas song… Who knows? Maybe you’ll catch my mood!
Thanks for visiting. Until next time.

  1. Very beautiful. Anyone who receives this will be blown away. I believe in non traditional colours. In fact, my cards are using Melon Mambo, Tempting Turquoise and Crushed Curry. Off to see your tutorial.

  3. Wow, this is truly amazing…Love the colors and the lush flowers. So delighted that you joined us at Word Art Wednesday. A new challenge is starting today and I hope you visit us again. Leaving you with the inspiration of God's Word found in Jeremiah 29:12-13 and the Lord tells us, “Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Have an awesome day!

      1. Ahh Graciellie – thanks so much. I thought they were your own tuts but if not don’t worry. Just curious to see how you did make this stunning card, but perhaps you can let me know which snowflake die you used? 🙂
