Happy Monday! Yes, there’s so much going on today, a blog post title cannot summarize it! (I gave it my best try though! lol) Ok, so today is our official brand new release day over at the digital shop. We’ve been adding new products to the website all throughout last week, and now we can finally show you everything at once, and also share project ideas with 6 new digital sets! Plus, today we’re announcing the winners of our latest giveaways AND we have another awesome gift card giveaway to share! (Scroll down for details.)
These are the cards I created for today! Looking at these images my first thought is how much love and joy I felt while I was drawing them! I happen to love hearts… Chunky hearts that is, just like the ones on my stamp sets. I also love donut and candy illustrations, so I think these new digis from the set Sweet Love are lots of fun to color and make cards with!
Designing a Printable Layout with Digital Stamps
For the donut card, I created a template using the Photoshop program. It is sized to fit an A2 card front perfectly and all I needed to do is print the panel, cut and color it, and finally attach it to a white card base. You can create any layout you like with our digital stamps on a photo editing program or even on Microsoft Word… Just insert the images you want to use, copy and paste them as many times as needed to create a pattern or layout, and add your sentiment. This is a great technique for when you need to make many cards at once! You simply can’t go wrong with premade layouts!
I colored the donuts with Arteza and Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers. I colored them using only the markers and right at the very end I used waterbrush once lightly just to blend it all. I also splattered some of the ink from the markers on the background and attached some Unity sequins (which match perfectly), using the new Ultra Bond Adhesive.
Supplies used:
Sweet Love Digital Stamp Set
Sweet Sprinkled Donut Unity Rubber Stamp Kit
Samsung Laser Printer
Arteza Real Brush Pens
Kuretake Zig Real Brush Markers
Ultra Bond Adhesive
Unity Sequins
Cutting Digital Paper Backgrounds on your Cricut
For the shaker card, I did something quite fun! I printed one of the patterned papers from the Sweet Love Digital Paper Pack on photo paper using a Brother Inkjet printer, and ran it through my Cricut Explore Air 2 to cut a heart window panel! (Click here to access this project over at Cricut Design Space.) To make it, I created a 4.5″ square on Design Space, then inserted a 3.5″ heart shape on the center, and finally attached both shapes together, that way the machine cuts both images at once creating a heart window square card panel! I did alter the heart shape to be a little wider, and that way I was able to match the the digital heart lollipop stamp too!
This technique is really fun because you can use shapes from Cricut Design Space to make your own backgrounds on any digital paper pattern. It also makes the process easier and will help you put together shaker cards in no time!
I cut a piece from acetate, using Clear Designer Toner Sheets from Therm O Web, and adhered it to the back of the heart window panel with the GK Designs Adhesive Dot Runner. Next, I added lots of different Unity sequins on the center of a 5″ by 5″ white card base and then mounted the panel using GK Designs Foam Tape.
For the image and sentiment, I sized and printed them using a laser printer and then I colored the heart lollipop using real brush markers! I fussy cut the image and attached it to the card with the new GK Designs Foam Squares. I cut a banner with the printed sentiment and adhered it with GK Designs Adhesive Dot RunnerThis tape works great for the shaker too!
