Hello! I’m so happy to be back with a new inspiration project, this time as a guest designer for the awesome Brutus Monroe! They were SO kind to invite me to join them for the month of November and I am so thankful for having the chance to play with some of their latest stamp sets!

Today I’m sharing a set of Fall cards with the new Autumn Sunrise 6″x 8″ Clear Stamp Set, which comes with 16 different leaf images and 4 large and bold sentiments to play with! The variety of leaves in the set inspired me to use it to create a background… A shimmery watercolored background on kraft that is!

To create this background I used the Brutus Monroe Premium Surface Board as my base. I stamped each single leaf randomly using Raven Detail Ink and then stamped the leaves again overlapping several of them, but this time instead of using ink I heat embossed the images in gold! Next, I painted the kraft board with glitter watercolors in golds and coppers, trying not to cover all the panel so that some of the kraft color could still show. The shimmer from the watercolors contrasts the kraft background and the best part is the board is sturdy enough to hold water and won’t warp much.

I cut the Kraft board into 2 pieces (basically cutting it in half, plus some extra trimming) and mounted them on a white and also a black card base. I wanted the background to shine and so I decided to stamp and heat emboss the Autumn greetings sentiment on vellum and attached it to the center of the card.

I hope you enjoyed this clean card idea. Love how we can make a simple design stand out by just layering pretty stamps and paints! This I think could be the perfect card to give to your guests on Thanksgiving or even co-workers and male friends. It is quite a versatile design and mixed media panel will definetely make everyone wonder how you made it!

  9. These cards are so amazing! I really love the layering of the leaves stamps all over the base of the cards! And the glittering of water colors for the backgrounds too!
