Winners + Girl in a Garden • Window Shaker Card with Unity Stamp Co.

Happy Saturday! I wanted to stop by and share with you a shaker card I made recently with the new Girl in a Garden rubber stamp kit by Unity. It was so much fun to make. I colored the image live on Instagram and now I’m sharing the finished card! (Make sure to follow me on IG so you can join my live videos too!)

I colored this pretty girl with Kuretake Zig Clean Color watercolor markers. I layered several colors from Lilac to Pink and even Flesh Color to get all the undertones you see on the finished card. I didn’t use watercolor paper this time, just a cardstock I get locally that happens to hold water nicely but watercolor paper would have worked amazing too. I waited for each layer of color to dry, to then come back and add more shading, especially to the skirt.

This kit comes with add-on elements that you can stamp together with the girl image. In this case, the basket was stamped and colored separately and fussy cut and adhered afterwards. I used Mustard and Oatmeal to color the basket and Lilac and Light Violet for the Lavender. Once the basket was added to the girl image, I colored the sky with Light Blue. That final detail completed the scene perfectly.

When I finished coloring these images I knew exactly what I wanted to make with them. I used a window die, that I altered to make smaller, and made the stamped image look as the view from outside. The window is also a shaker. It is a thinner shaker so I didn’t add that many sequins, but that’s ok because more sequins would have covered the girl completely. These beautiful sequins are also from Unity and the acetate is a Clear Toner Sheet from Therm O Web.

For the card background, I wanted to make it look like the interior of the house, and so I played with the idea of wallpaper and white crown moulding, using patterned papers and a strip of white cardstock scored manually. I think this is a fun way to complete the card and goes along perfect with the scene created with the stamps.

To finish, I stamped and heat emboss the sentiment “May your feet take you where your heart wants to go” in silver on a piece of Parchment Vellum from Paper Temptress (which stamps beautifully for detailed stamps such as this sentiment).

This new stamp kit is 50% off right now.
