Giveaway • Win all 3 NEW Stamp Sets. Plus 5 Techniques you’ll want to try out!

Happy Friday! We totally forgot to include a giveaway in our new release post yesterday, so we are having one TODAY! Plus, we’ll list some fun ideas to try out with our new digi stamp sets with samples by the design team!

As a reminder, we’ve released 3 new sets and they are all fun, happy and sweet, including handdrawn images that you’ll want to color over and over again! We’ve also included fantastic sentiments that are always thoughtful and meaningful.

5 Techniques to try out

Next, we want to show you a few amazing ideas to use with your digital stamps, especially if you’re planning on getting our new sets!

Make a Patterned Background

Laurie from ScrapwithLaurie used one of the sentiments on the new Sweetness Digi Set to create a patterned background for her card. This technique is super easy and you can copy and paste the stamp easily on any editing program such as PicMonkey and Photoshop but you could even achieve a similar look using Microsoft Word. Our new digis come with a transparent background so that will allow you to overlap the images easily.

Foiled Transparencies

I was inspired by Laurie’s idea and created a patterned background but instead used foil and acetate! Our digital stamps work great with Deco Foil products and for my card I printed the background -that I put together quite easily- using a Samsung M2020W Laser Printer. This kind of printer uses toner to print which activates with heat and makes Deco Foil adhere to wherever there’s toner. In this case, after I printed the pattern on a Clear Toner Sheet, I covered it with a piece of Gold Deco Foil Transfer Sheet and then ran it through the Laminator. The effect is always amazing… You can use your foiled transparency as a layer or even make a shaker card with it!

Create a Layout

Helen Gullett came up with an outstanding idea… She actually used the new floral vignette from the set You Matter to create a frame that she printed as one piece and colored around a verse. This technique makes half the work for you even before you start printing your images. This floral vignette is the kind of image that will allow you to play on your editing program to create patterns and layouts, since it is meant to be connected like this to create a continuous pattern.

Smudge Proof Watercoloring

Many of you may wonder how we manage to watercolor our digital stamps without making a mess, since usually the ink from printers smudges or melts when water touches it. Well, there are many ways to do this and our designers always come up with super creative ideas. Helen, for example, says that after she prints her images using a regular inkjet printer she waits a day for it to dry completely and that allows her to use watercolors without problem. I, on the other hand, love to use my laser printer instead and what I do to set the toner is use a heat tool until the toner looks shiny (almost like heat setting embossing powder). This technique works great for me and that is how I watercolor layer after layer on my printed digital stamps.

Add lots of Sparkle

One thing I’ve discovered while preparing my latest samples is that sometimes and image needs a particular boost of color and embellishments to come to life. The latest mason jar watermelon from the new digi set Happiness is the proof of that. After coloring your image, try adding bits of glitter, sequins and rhinestones here and there to add more interest, depth and movement to your image. It doesn’t have to be chunks of it, just finishing details here and there. In this case, the sparkle elements work particularly well because this mason jar contains liquid and the transparent coloring plus the glitter and other embellishments truly bring the image to life. In case you’re wondering, I used Mixed Media Adhesive by Therm O Web for the task!
