Today I wanted to share a card that came to life while I tried my new stamps from the kit Magnolia Flowers for the first time. So yes, it was a bit of an experiment that turned into a colorful and pretty set of cards.
I tried out different inks but this gorgeous red from ColorBox’s Petal Box by Teresa Collins looked really crisp and perfect for this solid floral stamp. I wanted to stamp the flowers randomly to create a background. Once I was done stamping the solid flower I thought of layering the detailed flower in gold ink (from the same Petal Box set). The second layer of stamping covers the first one and because these are pigment inks, the gold sits on top of the red adding a subtle metallic touch wherever it overlays it.
Video Tutorial
I have a video tutorial that you might enjoy watching, in which I show you the process of this card design. Click below to watch or click here to visit my YouTube channel and watch it over there!
The finishing touch was adding some color filling the white spaces with an alcohol marker, which gives the background a patterned paper feel! I’m sure you can use different color combinations to create more backgrounds like these! I think this new stamp kit is perfect for this technique so I hope to can come take a closer look at it here.
