Hello everyone! I haven’t been able to resist the temptation of joining the Watercolor Blog Hop being hosted by Pretty Pink Posh. I LOVE watercoloring and this was a great motivation to grab my watercolor pencils again and color some beautiful flowers.
I like to mix and layer orange, red and pink tones to add an interesting touch to my coloring. I didn’t apply my Faber Castell pencils directly to the image, but instead I scribbled each color on a piece of cardstock and picked up the colors using my water brush.
I heat embossed these stunning flowers in gold to make the embossing resist my watercoloring. This is one of my favorite techniques because the embossing contains the watercolors and makes the task a bit simpler. Still I spent quite a good amount of time to get the shading that I wanted on my flowers.
I love the result and thought I would finish the card with some vintage handwriting stamping, rhinestones, pearls and a heat embossed sentiment of vellum. I wanted my card to be a bit different from the usual contrasting, clean designs out there and so I applied distress ink around the edges of the white layer and mounted this on colorful mats. I really like the vintage touches it has!
This was a liberating and relaxing process to me but I hope today’s card inspires you to try this out also! Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ll be back in a day to share a great Father’s Day / masculine cardmaking idea with you!
I’m sharing this with:
Great Impressions – June Challenge AG / Word Art Wednesday – AG / MFT Sketch 231 Challenge
Your card is so beautiful! Thanks for including the information about your technique. I am a newbie and can't wait to try watercolor. I didn't even know that you could use watercolor pencils that way….thought that you had to color directly. Thank you so much for sharing.

Absolutely stunning in every way. Thanks for your explanation. I love to watercolour too and haven't in a while so I think I will emboss in gold and use your technique of colouring on cardstock first. Thanks for the inspiration and tips. Hugs.
