Beads, Flowers & Crackle + Video

This is proving to be a very busy week here at the blog but it’s also been a happy crafting week so far! Today I’m joining the Frilly & Funky team as their Guest Designer, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’m always inspired by the beautiful projects shared there so it’s an honor to be able to join them at least for a bit!

The challenge at Frilly & Funky is Snap, Crackle, Crackle! Let’s see some cracks on your creations! You can use crackle paint, crackle paste, crackle glaze, crackle accents, an old cracked image, a piece of cracked ultra thick embossing powder, a cracked pattern from a stencil or stamp… You can even doodle on your crackle design! Anything goes, as long as is cracks!

I love to use crackle embossing paste on my shabby chic projects and that’s exactly what I used for today’s card.

Supplies: Spellbinders – Rose Creations, Victoria Accents / Our Daily Bread Designs – Ornate Hearts / Ranger – Distress Ink spray in Spun Sugar, Perfect Pearls Mists in Biscotti, Distress ink in Old Paper, Distress Paint in Antique Linen, Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray, Idea-ology crinkle ribbon / Carta Bella – Hello Again / Dreamweaver – Crackle Embossing Paste / Uhu All Purpose Adhesive / Bead Landing – Word Beads / Mcgill – Flower Tool Kit, Craft Molding Mat / Miscelaneous – Vintage gold button, gauze, pink metallic cardstock, beige textured cardstock, pink leather textured cardstock, foam tape, fused string pearl beads

I added handmade flowers around two die cut hearts and embellished them with flourish die cuts, crinkle ribbon, pearls, pearl string, gauze, a vintage button and a word bead. I colored my flowers with Distress Ink spray in Spun Sugar, Perfect Pearls Mists in Biscotti and Distress ink in Old Paper. I adhered it all on a beautiful floral patterned paper that I previously applied with Dreamweaver crackle embossing paste, Distress Paint in Antique Linen and Dylusions White Linen Ink Spray.

I loved how the card looks with that patterned background and pretty flowers. To see how I made these flowers please check out the video tutorial below:

I invite you to visit Frilly and Funky and join the challenge! I love their blog and I know you’ll love it too! Also, take a minute to stop by their shop where you can find all the Ranger/Tim Holtz products I used for my card and more.

As always I hope you enjoyed my card and tutorial. Remember to subscribe to my newsletter and social media! Thanks so much for visiting!

  3. Oh, Gracie, this is a technique I learned years ago and have not used in a very long time. I love it on this beautiful DP and how your gorgeous flowers pull out the pink! Stunning card with the heart and floral arrangement! Hugs, sweet friend!

  4. Stunning creation Gracie! I can't wait to watch the video. Thanks so much for sharing this with us. You are very talented. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and my Youtube channel. FYI: I added two new videos yesterday to my https://www.youtube.com/user/purpleglo13/videos. I had to remake and delete the previous one; as the auto fix made it almost black. Have a fabulous day Gracie! Hugs, Gloria

  5. Your flowers are beautiful and I enjoyed and learned much from watching your tutorial. What type of paper do you use for your flowers? Do I need to get watercolor paper? Your video has inspired me to try to make my own handmade flowers but I didn't know where to start in choosing papers and flower dies. Thank you!
